New Online Open Lab: “Living with IBD - Understanding How Nutrition and Psychology Interact”
On 27 April 2026, the International Federation of Crohn’s & Ulcerative Colitis Associations (IFCCA), in collaboration with the miGut - Health project, will host an Online Open Lab exploring the relationship between nutrition and psychology in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
Titled “Living with IBD: Understanding How Nutrition and Psychology Interact,” the session brings together patients, researchers, healthcare professionals, and families to exchange knowledge and experiences. The event aims to foster dialogue and strengthen patient-centred approaches to IBD care.
The programme features leading experts from across Europe, including clinical dietitian Christina Mastori, researcher Dr Dilara Usta, and Professor Guendalina Graffigna, who will introduce the ENGAGE-IBD Guide designed to enhance patient engagement in care.
Participants will also take part in an interactive workshop, encouraging discussion on practical strategies to support personalised care for people living with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
The Open Lab reflects miGut - Health’s commitment to advancing understanding of the gut–brain connection in IBD. Emerging research highlights how diet, psychological stress, and the gut–brain axis interact to influence both disease outcomes and quality of life, underlining the importance of integrated, multidisciplinary care approaches.
By creating a platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange, this initiative supports the development of more personalised and holistic strategies for managing IBD.
